nocturnal 3 K Review

I went to Nocturnal 3K on the 16^th and 17^th of June. I decided to go when I saw a leaflet back in October last year (at Stargate SG2) and despite booking about 7 months in advance I got myself ticket number 855 (not good for autographs).

Ok what can I say about this con first of all, all the guests were absolutely brilliant (except maybe Nicholas Brendon who for some reason was acting a little weird).

There were 3 of the guys from the make-up department (from both Buffy and Angel).

James Marsters (known as Spike).
Robin Atkin Downes (more known for his role as Byron in B5 but also had a very small role on Buffy).

Andy Hallett (the Host from Angel) who was rather funny and entertaining.

Amber Benson (Tara)

Unfortunately Charisma Carpenter couldn’t make it to the con (she was replaced at the last minute by Nicholas Brendon "Xander").

For the convention itself, what can I say except that the organisation needed a lot of "organising". I’ll give you a few examples:

Only having one video room which could only take about 40 people!!!
Having the photos run so late than instead of finishing at 12pm, it finished around 4pm.
Having nothing to do for about 2 hours waiting for the photos to finish (I am not a organiser of conventions but a episode of Buffy or Angel would have been very welcome at this stage!!).
James Marsters was the most under used guest of them all. He only had 2 talks and he shared one with George Hertzberg (Adam from Buffy) and the last panel with everybody else - that was all.
Having Robin Atkin Downes (no offence against him, not that I liked Byron) doing a 1h30 talk when he had such a small part in the show (he played Reptile Boy in the first season of Buffy).
And most of all, cutting the talk of Andy Hallett and J August Richard (the Host and Gunn) to announce that Nicholas was doing more photos!! (And worse still to learn that because he did those photos, he was tired and couldn’t do any more talks!!)

Ok I’ll stop my putting down the organisation and tell what went well (not that very much of it!).

As I said earlier the guests were great at all the talks they were involved in.
Andy and J were a very good laugh. So was James even if he was under used. Amber couldn’t stop giggling and was nothing like the character she plays in Buffy!!
